Easy Ways to Save on Prescriptions

Pharmacist and patient

To help you protect your health and manage conditions, most BCBSRI Medicare Advantage plans1 offer prescription drug coverage. Here’s how to get the most out of your pharmacy benefit.

1. Take advantage of low or $0 copays

You can immediately benefit from low or even $0 copays on Tier 1 and Tier 2 generic drugs included in your plan’s formulary. This allows you to access medications while keeping your out-of-pocket expenses to a minimum.

2. Understand your pharmacy deductible

Your pharmacy deductible applies to all drugs in Tiers 3 through 5, which include brand name, specialty, and certain generic medications.

3. Track your deductible progress

You can monitor your progress toward meeting your pharmacy deductible in two convenient ways. First, review your monthly Explanation of Benefits (EOB), which provides a detailed summary of your prescription drug spending. Second, you can check your current deductible status online by logging into your myBCBSRI account.

4. Save with mail order.
You can save time and money by signing up for prescription delivery (plus, having your meds on hand can make it easier to take them as directed). With most plans, you’ll pay $0 for a 100-day supply of many generic drugs in Tiers 1 and 2—with discounts on others—and have them delivered at no cost.2

5. Get vaccinated for $0.
With your pharmacy benefit, you can get vaccines to protect against flu, COVID-19, RSV, pneumonia, shingles, and other diseases.
