Heading out on summer vacation? Whether you're taking a quick trip or going for an extended stay, these tips can help you have a healthy journey.

1. Pack enough medication for your entire stay—and a little extra.
Travel is unpredictable, so bring more than you expect to need, just in case. With Preferred Mail Order, you can order a 90-day supply of your prescriptions and have them delivered. For many generic drugs, you’ll pay $0.1

2. Get travel essentials with your OTC benefit.
Sunscreen, bug spray, pain relievers, toothpaste … use your Flexible Benefit Card to stock up for the trip. You have $60 or more per quarter (depending on your plan) to choose from hundreds of over-the-counter (OTC) everyday health items.2 You can shop in stores, online, or by phone. See the details

3. Sign up for Doctors Online before you go.
If you have a cold, allergy symptoms, or a migraine while on vacation, you can video chat with a board-certified doctor on your computer, smartphone, or tablet—for $0. It’s a convenient way to get help for common, non-emergency health issues. Set up your account by downloading the BCBSRI Drs. Online app from the Apple App Store or Google Play or visit drs-online.com.3

1Pay $0 copay for a 90-day supply of many generic drugs in Tiers 1 & 2. Your actual savings depend on the drugs you take. Available with all plans except BlueCHiP for Medicare Core.

2Amounts depend on your specific plan. Refer to your Evidence of Coverage (EOC) at bcbsri.com/medicare. Unused benefits do not roll over to the next benefit period. You cannot exceed your benefit amount. Prices, brands, and items vary from store to store. Purchases made online or by phone using the catalog may be different than what you find in stores.

3In the case of an emergency, you should always call 911. Doctors Online is not intended to replace these services and should not be used in those circumstances.
